IT CHANGE CONTROL: Three examples of our Information Technology Change Control projects for major Clients.

Case History 1: This major High Street retailer was simultaneously implementing seven separate application upgrades on the same application server in each of its three hundred stores. The brief was to design and implement a process for tracking and reviewing development changes, to automate that process using Microsoft Outlook, and to manage the release of fast-track fixes from Development into Production.

Case History 2: After acquiring several new support companies, this ISP wanted to redesign its Change Control procedures without slowing down the introduction of new systems and capacity. Analysis of existing processes, and discussions with development and support team leaders, led to a single Production Change review and short-range planning process across the whole of the Operations Group. This was supported by the implementation of a web-enabled change management database. Change requests could be raised, reviewed and tracked from any point of the UK, without the need to call the Change Manager, and stored for regular reporting and ad-hoc analysis.

Case History 3: This Central Government Directorate, created to reflect the transfer of IT support and procurement from forty-two Area-based Services to a national service provider, required a centralised Change Control system. The brief was to provide leadership & skills transfer to the incoming permanent Change Manager & team of six Change Administrators, and to ensure structured review & risk analysis of Area Change Requests including office moves, new applications and server upgrades.
